Letters to Mason: Four Months

Happy four months! It has been quite a ride and it just keeps getting better. We continue to be amazed by how much Mason grows day to day and week to week and it seems like currently, he does something new every day. We better not blink!

This month was one for a lot of firsts. To start with an important first, we are sleeping through the night and aside from the occasional wake up call here and there, Tiff and I are enjoying over 4 hours of sleep. We still get up at night to look over the monitor but I think this isnt' really going anywhere so long as we have children. Other great firsts were our first trip to Disney with Mason which of course involved an airplane. Mason did great and slept through both flights. He also surprised us at the parks by being very flexible with us taking him out and basically working with us on napping in his stroller, sleeping on a strange bed, eating his first hand of solids, etc. We learned a lot about ourselves and ultimately that we were not giving this little guy a chance to show us how strong he really is and how much he can handle of a little change in his schedule. overall, we had a great trip, his first Disney ride was Dumbo (he shall remember this one I bet).

Mason has quite an interesting bedtime routine too! We've been perfecting it as time goes by, but essentially it involves eating, bathtime (splash, sploosh), daddy reading a book, and this is the special part, we put on one of Disney's greatest hits albums and voila, he sleeps. On occasion, Tiff and I will duet a whole new world for him and that usually works well. What kid can say they go to sleep listening to the Lion King or Tarzan on the daily?

Little man has began to enjoy the finer foods in life. He loves anything sweet (wonder where he gets it from?) He loves pears, apples, bananas, squash, sweet potato, and recently green beans. He does really well with the food which we try to make at home as much as possible.

We celebrated our first christmas and new years and for the first time ever, we all went to sleep at a normal time and with minimal disruption other than being showered with gifts from grandparents, uncles and mommy and daddy. We got to meet Santa and celebrate with our friend Lexie.

We continue to ask ourselves how did we get to be this blessed, to have this child as OUR child? We know God had a very special plan for us to have this baby and we are in awe of how lucky we are to be Mason's parents.

Little Man. Mommy and I are starting to feel like we got this down. We finally are not afraid that we're going to mess you up somehow. (we still might so forgive us). We have discovered that you are one of the happiest babies we know and you will easily laugh at everything. You have been smiling at us since birth and now that you're able to laugh and scream while laughing it lets us enjoy every second of it that much more. We love spending time with you and it seems like there just isnt' enough time in the day or week to spend with you. We try to play with you as much as possible while you're awake and work on your development. The doctor says that she's impressed that you're almost sitting at 4 months and that you're only steps away from rolling on your right side.
Mommy and I sometimes stand by your crib and wanting to kiss you but afraid to wake you up :) We love you but we enjoy the fact that you sleep through the night... :)

I know you dont know how much you've changed our lives. I hope one day you do because it's been amazing for us to grow as a family!
