First Sonogram, First Check Up - Week 8

Go Back To My Site

Tiff and I arrived at the Midwife's office a little anxious and VERY excited to get to have this first milestone in our parenting journey. Overall, the appointment went well, we met one of the 5 different midwives from the practice and she was nothing but great. She was very thorough and very eloquent about explaining and answering all our questions.

We received a binder with lots of great information regarding the normal what to do and not to do while pregnant but more so than that, we got information about chromosomal testing available for the baby and the million other possible tests that go along with it.

We also got some information on classes that the hospital has for new parents along with information on the birthing center at Lansdowne and the upgrades being done to it that will make it more like a hotel/home rather than a hospital room. Once it is done, it will be complete with a post delivery massage options and spa like amenities. Win. I wonder if dads can get in on it as well?

Though not normally done at week 8, we received an ultrasound which measured the baby to confirm the due date and also validated that all things look great. We got a bonus gift and saw the baby's heart beat. It measured at 174 which from what I have read, this is a great reading at week 8.

We could not be more happy that this is happening in our lives. I spend most of my runs day dreaming of Jelly Bean standing with Tiff on the sidelines on runs cheering me on or at the end of the course. I cant wait to have this little creature made from both of us in our lives.
