End of second Trimester Thoughts

So here we are ending the second trimester and as I reminisce over the past six months I realize that this journey has completely change us as individuals and as a couple.

As we prepare for little man's arrival, we continue working on the nursery and anxiously patiently awaiting the furniture's arrival.  We have finished painting the room, collected a sizable wardrobe to fit 0-12 months, registered for all our wants  needs, completed birthing class and reading the Great Book of Birth to round out my birthing education. Unknown aside, we are ready to welcome the final phase of this journey.

It is hard to believe that 6 months ago we saw the little lines appear on the stick of wonders that carried Jelly Bean's first birth announcement. We still live our life as if we were two recently married couple, not worried about the after work responsibilities, acting whimsically as to what to eat for dinner, or whether to catch up on TV or a movie on a tuesday night.  We know this will all change and I'd love to start preparing us for that, but I know that this is impossible. Until then, we will continue to enjoy acting like a couple of teenager with no curfew (even though our bedtime is around 10pm).

We started imagining what our little man is going to look like... Since for all intent and purpose we are after all ethnically diverse. To clarify; we are not wondering what his skin color will be, people always assume that because I tan easily, our child will automatically come out somewhere in between. We are wondering what probably every parent superficially wonders (i.e. eye color, hair, nose, lips, etc). We are incredibly blessed that he is healthy and that from every test done and every scan observed, he is perfect. So we indulge ourselves in wondering about his looks and we continue to give thanks and praise that our baby boy is healthy and we dont have to worry about other concerns that so many parents face.

Tiff is doing amazingly well; I feel as if we have conquered this pregnancy, I say we because I made it a point to be as involved as a man can possibly be. She is a champ, the ultimate of champs. As I look back at this journey, I dare say it was so worth it and it was great to know that it got bad but now its good.

We are giddy with excitement.

Week 26

What Fruit are you? Eggplant

Due date:  9.11.14
How far along:  26 Weeks!
Next appointment:  A couple of weeks...
Gender:  Boy
Exercise: Yes.
Stretch marks: starting to get a few more around the growing belly
Swelling: not so much now that we're not walking in 100 degree weather
Maternity clothes:  yes
Belly button:  Still in...
Sleep: steady
Food cravings:  Haven't been feeling the crave for food really
Symptoms:  no symptoms really, just a growing belly.
Movement:  Non stop, sometimes all day, sometimes we think there is  a pattern. He seems to sleep and wake up during food time.
What She misses:  This week has been good, not a lot to miss, seems to just be feeling the weight of the baby in her lower back so perhaps that.. not feeling super tired at the end of the days.
What She's loving:  This week it seemed to be jersey mikes...
What She's looking forward to:  I would say, more and more, the arrival of kiddo.
Best moment this week: It was a good week in that it was uneventful. We got to enjoy our home and dogs and taking short walks around the neighborhood in nice weather. It was nice just taking it all in.

News: Milestones:  Words of wisdom: Had dinner with our good friends this week who have a new born. We have seen them fairly regularly and it seems like every time we see them they look like they're slowly getting it together. we are looking forward to having that experience ourselves in that we know it will be exhausting, but also rewarding.
